What Men Usually Come In For
The frown lines between the brows can make you look annoyed in meetings and in photos when you feel fine. Forehead lines show most in men who raise their brows when they talk. Crow's feet show in anyone who spends time outside. Botox can also be used in the masseter, the chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw, for men who clench and grind at night or want the lower face slimmer and more defined.
How Treating Men Is Different
Men have stronger facial muscles and thicker skin than women, so the plan is tailored to a man's face. Placement is different too. A man's brow sits lower and flatter, and lifting it the way you might for a woman produces an arched, surprised look that reads as feminine. Our goal for men is a softer version of the face you already have: fewer lines, the same expressions, a brow that stays where it is. Dr. Bashian and Rachel Fey, PA err on the conservative side at a first visit and adjust at the two-week check-in if you want more.

What to Expect at Home
Dr. Bashian or Rachel Fey, PA will have you frown, raise your brows and squint to see how your muscles move, mark the points, and treat. Small bumps at the sites fade within half an hour, and you can go straight back to work. Skip the gym, lying flat and rubbing the area for about four hours. Results show in three to five days, settle at two weeks and last three to four months. Masseter treatment takes longer to show, four to eight weeks, and lasts longer, four to six months.
Who It's For
Men with lines that show when they make an expression, or that have started to stay at rest. Men who clench or grind, wake up with a sore jaw, or want a slimmer jawline. And men who have thought about this for a while and want it done by Dr. Bashian or Rachel Fey, PA, privately, without walking into a medspa. We do not treat anyone with certain neuromuscular conditions, and we'll go over your history before treating you.
Risks and Side Effects
Minor bruising, redness or a mild headache the first day are the most common. With forehead treatment, the specific risk is a heavy brow if too much is used, which is why dosing for men is conservative on the first visit. Rarely, the medication can drift and cause a temporary heaviness of the eyelid, which resolves on its own within a few weeks. Individual results vary.
